Craft room re-do

It took me all week with all the stuff on my bedroom floor and lots of backpains in order to get my office/craft room done.Yay!

My crochet area.I put the yarn and thread in blue and black fabric bins. These bins were given to me by my daughter's bf.Thanks DB!
 My scrapping area
This is my little sewing supplies area
I used wallpaper pieces and lined the front of the plastic organizers.
And of course, you all know that I repurposed this old filing cabinet.I still have to fix the label area.

Repurposing a filing cabinet

So my darling hubby got two filing cabinets from a storage unit and he wanted to throw them away.I begged for them and finally, he relented. He just cannot see what I would want to do with filing cabinets! Well, this week I got help in taking them inside the house.I gave my little daughter one(who plays teacher every single day!) I have as yet to work on hers.
Well, here is what I did to mine in my office/craft room:

I cleaned it out and put some good ole elbow grease. Finally,I took some wallpaper we had remaining from years ago (no,I hardly throw away stuff-some of you know what I mean). I then stuck the wallpaper on both sides with Mod Podge. Good old Mod Podge-always there for me..haha!

Then,I used scrap circles punchouts which I had laying around.I'd punched these out with a scalloped circle punch. The paper is wallpaper-hehe. Then I Mod Podged those to the front. All because I am too lazy to take an X-acto knife to cut the handles out from a rectangle piece of paper.I love shortcuts, don't you?

I still have to give a final coat of Mod Podge to really seal all those circles in and put some labels on the drawers but here are some of the pics:

More organizers

Here are a few things that I have organized this past week:

  • Plant stand from Big Lots (I got it for $10 on sale)
  • A mason jar to store Ziploc bags. I hate to see tons of boxes!
  • A huge jar (which we got at an auction) to store my granulated sugar. I have as yet to print my labels.

A new outlook

Well,it has totally been hectic this past week.My daughter had the stomach virus and is now finally getting over it but I've got it since Sunday.I feel awful but while I was bedridden on Monday,I 've been reading on my Kindle while I can.I had downloaded this fantastic book on organization by Kathryn Bechen.I have not finished it and I already want to start my organizing. I would highly recommend this book because she really guides you every step of the way.

I am in so much love with this book that right now,I have 3 sets of papers on my desk that I have started on drawing up plans of my bedroom and office.I am totally going to start my organizing anew.I realize that I really want my bedroom to be a place of retreat where I can just enjoy rest and relaxation.I do not need so many bookshelves with my crafts or office stuff in it.I also want my office to hold those items alone and no where else.I admit that I have craft stuff upstairs in the spare bedroom,in my living room cupboard, in my bedroom and office.
I am not feeling too well but I really would like to make a start on something so the only thing I want to get done today is my planning.Yes,put it in black and white before I actually get down on the nitty gritty as soon as I feel better. This stomach bug is really terrible and I just cannot wait to get better!

Cleaning bug kicked in

Well, after having to deal with a bunch of obstacles, the cleaning bug has kicked in. We finally repainted our red living room to a Milk Chocolate. It actually made my small living room look much bigger!
Hubby got this cupboard at an auction last week for $22.I had to squeeze it in my spare bedroom closet and I packed some toiletries etc in it. I like the fact that it had doors so it made it look so much less cluttered.
The third picture down shows where I took a bookshelf and created a pantry..haha.I love books but I needed to put some extra groceries that I got on sale.
