Oreo Rice Krispies

Well,I found this recipe on Pinterest and just had to try it. The kids are at school and I am alone enjoying the peace and quiet for a little while.I decided to just go ahead and make a special surprise for them when they get back home. This recipe is pretty simple. You can find the link to it here: Oreo Rice Krispies. I cannot wait to see their faces when they see it.Maybe we will have some left over for tomorrow...haha!

Easy popovers

I was so thrilled that my husband and kids joined and gave me a Kitchen-Aid mixer for Christmas.I have always wished that I could have had one. Thank you honey!Tonight,I just felt that I needed to get to familiarize myself with it since I have never used one before.I chose a very simple recipe from the manual and it came out pretty good.I chose Popovers which is sort of like a home-made version of a canned biscuit. Here is the recipe taken directly from the manual:

POPOVERS

8 POPOVERS

2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
1 cup all-purpose flour
14 teaspoon salt

Place eggs, milk, butter, flour, and salt in mixer bowl. Attach bowl and wire whip to mixer. Turn to Speed 4 and beat 15 seconds. Stop and scrape bowl. Turn to Speed 4 and beat 15 seconds more.

Fill 8 heavily greased and floured custard cups half full with batter. Place cups on cookie sheet. Place cookie sheet in cold oven and set heat at 450°F. Bake for 5 minutes; reduce heat to 350°F and bake 20 to 25 minutes longer. Remove from oven and cut slit into side of each popover. Serve immediately.

I did not have custard cups so I used a silicone heart shaped muffin baking pan. I ate mine with some scrambled eggs. I think it probably would taste pretty good with some honey butter.
